Convenience is typically priced at a premium for those who would rather save time than money. We’re accustomed to paying more for conveniences like valet parking. And we know we’ll pay more for items at convenience stores. So why then do prepared foods appear to be cheaper than whole foods? How did a convenient life of inactivity become the good life? Unfortunately, the real costs of America’s convenience lifestyle are disease, ecological damage, poor quality of life and economic hardship.
